Portfolio Post

During the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year, I was enrolled in Principles of design. For our first project, we are put to the task of mixing line art and color to create a portfolio for all of our other pieces throughout the semester. The first step in doing this was to dilute black ink in a cup by adding some water to it. Once it had been mixed around we dipped a piece of string about 2-feet long into the cup, push it down with a stick in order to cover it. As it was pulled out from the cup we ran in gently along a popsicle stick to get rid of any clumps and then place it on the paper. From there we could do what we wanted with the string, ink, and paper and we created lines and shapes. Once that was dry we went back in colored different sections with different colors, each of the colors used had its own meaning to them and meant something to us. This was a really fun project to start off the semester with, I have always wanted to do ink and string art and so being able to do that what fun as well as picking where my colors went afterward and really making it my own. I want to share this piece with others to show how I did it and inspire others to take on a project that they have always wanted to do.
